About The Project
In a joint competition between the schools of art in Winchester, Dalian (China) and Elisava (Barcelona, Spain) we were briefed to create a unique identity for our local town with supporting A3 poster. I chose to avoid the Winchester cliché of focusing on the cathedral and instead used a map of Winchester to plot out points of interest and connecting the best together I formed a W. Using this as a base I gave the shape a sense of flow that resembled the rolling hills around Winchester and then sampled the satellite imagery for the best colours. To contrast the simple shape I used the serif font Garamond for the logotype and tagline. Below I've included some scans of my process.
